protein lab research
Proteins do many different things inside of your body, they are composed of long strands of amino acids. Some proteins are made in your body, except most come from the food you eat. When proteins enter our bodies they form into amino acids (there are 9 essential amino acids histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine). Your body cannot produces these essential amino acids and without them you'd die (hence essential). So to survive you have to get them through food. Once these amino acids enter your body they reform into proteins with a specific job. Some of these specific jobs include building muscle, energy, movement, nutrient transportation, and your immune system.
Here are some 3d models of amino acids that form into proteins.
Reflection!
I did not know that proteins were made up of amino acids, I actually never really had heard of amino acids until we did this lab in class. I found it very interesting that our body cannot produce these acids naturally and to get them we HAVE to eat. Afterwords I was also interested in the fact the the acids form into more specific proteins that have their own jobs.
