carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are energy for the body, they are acquired through ingesting almost all types of foods. Carbohydrates (Carbs for short) are one of the main nutrients we get from food along with fats and proteins. There are many different kinds of Carbs, Monosaccharides, Disaccharides, and Polysaccharides. Each one has it's own rules. Monosaccharides are Carbs with only one sugar unit EX: Glucose. Disaccharides are Carbs with two sugar units EX: Sucrose. Polysaccharides are Carbs that have at least 10 sugar units. EX: Amylose.
We obtain Carbs by eating food, our body digest our food and we pull out the necessary nutrients to survive. These nutrients are converted to energy that our body burns when we exercise, the carbs that are not burned off are converted to fat which is why people gain weight real quickly if they consume fast food all day.

carbohydrate lab
We did two labs as a class these labs were to see how different sugars react with food or a set of reactants. We did two tests one where we added food and tested and one where we had "mystery" substances to pull sugars out of. The labs we did gave some very colorful results (pun intended). Many of the sugars reacted instantly to the reactants and would change colors within seconds.

I found some interesting things in this project, the most interesting probably being just the fact that people overeat their daily
allowances on a daily basis. I honestly don't think that learning more about carbohydrates is going to change my opinion on what I chose to eat but if I had to change something or convince people to change something. I would tell people to stop drinking diet sodas, from what I learned I found it actually healthier to just drink sodas with real sugar.
