How does music work as a tool to educate?
In kindergarten you know a “Clean up song” and when you hear this you know to clean up. This is one way it is indirectly used for teaching.
Why is music an effective educational tool?
For some students hearing a song that they enjoy might make clean up ETC actually fun.
What is happening in the brain when a person listens to music?
Sometimes sounds can increase / decrease different aspects of ones personality, like ambient noises can on occasion increase creativity.
What chemicals are responsible for producing/regulating emotions?
Serotonin, dopamine, gaba, gamma.
How do those chemicals react to musical stimuli?
Music calms the brain which reduces the release of stress hormones.
What is music therapy?
Listening to music to better a disorder or condition such as Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
What types of medical conditions can music therapy be used for?
ADD, Depression, GAD.
How can music enhance mood or quality of life?
It can change a persons mood, so if you listen to happy song you can become happy. If you listen to a depressing song chances are you’ll end up sad. Not always though depends on how you feel before listening. So if you’re already happy you might get more happy.
What is synesthesia?
A rare disorder where people can Hear, feel and taste color.
