Backpack Design
For this mini project we had to use Design Thinking to create a backpack design in 2 days and then present the design to the rest of the class. The picture on the left is the final design and the one on the right is my groups ideas / Brainstorm.
design thinking
Design thinking is basically a process where you have to imagine all aspects and users of a product. You have to take these things into account to make sure whatever you are designing will work for everyone. For example if you want to design a spatula you need to think about all of the problems that may occur. Lets say someone has arthritis they may have trouble holding the spatula, they could drop it and possible burn themselves. So you would add an easy to use rubber grip which would help people with arthritis and not effect people without arthritis. Its a small addition that makes a HUGE difference for some people. This style of thinking works when designing almost anything. Think about Weight, Mobility, Grip, Speed, Time ETC.
You have to think of everything and make sure that the product can be used by anyone. This means you have have to go through much trial and error. Revising you product 2,10,100 times before it works for everyone or works for as many people as it can. This style of thinking leads to greater ideas and inventions.
